Since this question just came up on python-ideas again, here's a summary of the current status: 1. The current patch is known to be outdated due to the inclusion of PEP 380 in Python 3.3 ("yield from itr" eliminates any need for "yield itr") 2. Since this is a syntax change, a PEP is needed to elaborate on the exact details of what will be added (see PEP 3132 as an example of a PEP that covered a similar change for assignment targets*)
