It is easy for interested people to maintain their own forks, especially when *removing* stuff." It's painful to have to maintain downstream patches. Supporting this feature would make Python usable on more platforms. Marc-Andre Lemburg: "it is possible to compress Python down to just a few MBs: (...)" Right, that "a few MBs" can be too big on small devices, and it has a price on runtime performance, at least on the boot duration. |
