- Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions and Astranis, a manufacturer and operator of small geostationary satellites, announced today that they are working together to support Astranis' efforts to bring widespread broadband internet access to the people of Alaska.

ARLINGTON, Virginia - Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES), announced today the availability of a radiation-hardened Onboard Computing (OBC) reference design to speed the development of space computing platforms including CubeSats.

Lady Nadine Cobham has reportedly written to defence secretary Ben Wallace and business secretary Andrea Leadsom urging them to block the deal, saying the takeover could threaten the national interest.

The Mail, citing City sources, said aerospace and defence parts manufacturer Meggitt is in the early stages of evaluating whether it should submit a rival offer for Cobham, consulting with investment bankers Morgan Stanley.

Cobham, which boasts contracts with the Ministry of Defence, US military and NASA, has accepted a takeover bid from Advent International.

The takeover by private equity group Advent International Corporation will now have to be voted on by Cobham shareholders, who will receive 165p per share - a 34.4% premium to the share's closing price on Wednesday evening.

Advent's offer is 34 per cent more than Cobham's closing share price on Wednesday, but 35 per cent below a peak seen in February 2015.

Cobham Plc (LON:COB) shares shot up around 35% in Thursday's early deals as a cash takeover offer was recommended by the board.

Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions (CAES), a sector of Cobham plc, has announced the appointment of Thomas Casale as Vice President and General Manager of its Common Network Interface (CNI) and Interconnect Solutions Business Area (CIS), located in Exeter, New Hampshire and Huntington Beach, California, the company said.
