More than 150 people attended a wreath-laying ceremony yesterday at Lockerbie's Dryfesdale Cemetery.

The leaders met in Libya amid hopes it would open the Lockerbie discussion - but members of the group fear the issue is being ignored.

Britain and the US have been involved in talks with Libyan officials since the Lockerbie trial ended last year to agree a compensation deal for the victims' relatives in return for international sanctions being lifted.

The reserve was the brainchild of Jim Rae, former principal teacher of biology at Lockerbie Academy, who saw the potential of an old curling pond hidden away in the forest.

"Returning our railways to public ownership would see profits re-invested in services and rail infrastructure which would improve services from Lockerbie, not taken out of our services for private profits.

The walkers scaled Burnswark, a hill to the south of Lockerbie.
