LynxOS

The LDRA tool suite is already available for use with the LynxOS family of operating systems, including LynxOS-178, for the development and verification of high and mixed criticality embedded applications.

Operating system platforms include MS Windows 32 and 64-bit, National Instruments' LabVIEW & Real-Time, Wind River's VxWorks, Green Hills Software Integrity, LynxWorks' LynxOS, Linux x86 32 and 64-bit, IntervalZero's RTX and Oracle's Sparc Solaris 64.

Ad-sol Nissin and Lynx have worked together for over 20 years providing embedded solutions based on the LynxOS real-time operating system to top tier Japanese companies in the automotive, manufacturing, industrial, office automation and transportation markets.

It supports traditional desktop OSes such as fully virtualised Windows and para-virtualised Linux, with hard real-time OSes like the LynxOS RTOS family.

Mid-2005 saw Thales select the Lynux-Works LynxOS real-time operating system to power its PowerEngine7 high-performance, low-power consumption single-board computer (SBC) as a major subsystem component for a selection of airborne communication controllers.

This process is made easiest with other open standards-based or POSIX-conformant OSes such as LynuxWorks' LynxOS real-time operating system (RTOS) and LynxOS-178 safety-critical RTOS, since the host OS would need to intercept Linux system calls in order for a port to be possible.

The company's products include the open-source BlueCat(R) Linux and the scalable, Linux-compatible LynxOS real-time operating system.

Implemented as an enhancement to Lynux Works' BlueCatT Linux and the Linux-compatible LynxOS real-time operating system (OS), the new OS extensions will provide full support for CompactPCI hot swap operations allowing on-line repair of standard peripheral controllers as well as dynamic system reconfiguration.

It currently supports LynxOS, and will support Solaris and other operating systems in the near future.--Brooktrout Technology
