The first Dogme films--Festen [Celebration] (1998) and Idioterne [The Idiots] (1998)--were shot on tiny MiniDV and Hi-8 camcorders, the latter even employing low-end in-camera effects like auto-focus, auto exposure, and electronic zoom.
