Beat Rush in Final Fantasy VII.

Beat Rush (掌打ラッシュ, Shōda Rasshu?, lit. Palm Strike Rush), also known as Rise and Fall, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is one of Tifa Lockhart's signature attacks, usually consisting of a swift series of palm strikes.

First introduced in Final Fantasy VII as a limit break, Beat Rush became a prominent feature throughout Tifa Lockhart's appearances across the series, normally as a limit break. In Final Fantasy VII Remake, translated to Rise and Fall, it became a regular ability, associated with her Unbridled Strength cycle with Whirling Uppercut and Omnistrike.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy VII[]

Beat Rush is Tifa's initial Limit, and deals 1.25 normal damage. Performing Beat Rush nine times teaches Tifa Somersault.

Final Fantasy VII Remake[]

Rise and Fall appears as a regular ability rather than a limit break. It is a martial technique Tifa can use when she reaches the 3rd chi level by using Unbridled Strength. One of her unique abilities (alongside Whirling Uppercut and Omnistrike), it causes her to leap towards a target with spinning kicks, ending with a double palm strike. When used on a staggered enemy, in total, its four hits will boost their stagger bonus damage by 5%.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth[]

Rise and Fall returns as a unique ability for Tifa, once again a third level chi ability for her reached through Unbridled Strength and above Whirling Uppercut and Omnistrike. The ability is mostly identical to Remake, also dealing damage and boosting stagger bonus damage across four hits.

Using Unfettered Fury, the magic alternate to Unbridled Strength, unlocks a similar ability named Rage and Fall, a non-elemental magic version of Rise and Fall that can be used on targets who resist physical damage.
