Darryl is a minor non-player character from the original Final Fantasy. She is a former mermaid who grows legs and moves up onto the shore. Although she does not say her name when spoken to, the other mermaids at the Sunken Shrine talk about her as the mermaid who grew legs. She is only named in the North American version on the NES.

The identity of Darryl could be the dancing girl who loves having legs or the woman who owns the barrel submarine and wants to save the mermaids, both of whom reside in Onrac. Both the mermaid and dancer sprites in the NES version have the same ponytail and hair color, though the color of the dancing girl in Onrac is colored red instead of blonde. The hair design of the woman who owns the submarine is different from the mermaids in the NES release, but later versions gives the woman the same ponytail and hair color as the mermaids.

This character was most likely named for actress Daryl Hannah, who in 1984, played as a mermaid named Madison who has the ability to have human legs in the movie Splash.
