Increases movement by 2, allowing the unit to move a greater distance.
The Ivalice Chronicles' description
Movement +2, also known as Move +2, is a movement ability in Final Fantasy Tactics, learned by the thief job. It increases the movement value by 2, allowing the unit to move one additional tile in all directions. The movement ability must be learned by expending JP earned for the thief job, at which point it and other jobs can also use the movement ability.
Obtained[]
Movement +2 costs 520 JP in the North American version of Final Fantasy Tactics for the PlayStation, and 560 JP in the original Japanese version, as well in all versions of The War of the Lions and The Ivalice Chronicles, to be spent on the thief job. Once the unit has learned it, they can equip it in their movement ability slot to use it.
If a unit that knows Movement +2 becomes a crystal, a human unit picking up the crystal may learn Movement +2 without spending JP.
Mechanics[]
Movement +2 allows the unit to move two additional tiles in all directions, allowing to cross greater distances.
Movement bonuses are cumulative with other sources, such as accessories like the battle boots and the germinas boots.
Use[]
Movement +2 is a staple in the mid to lategame, providing a substantial boost to a unit's mobility. It also plays an important role to circumvent jobs with low movement stat, such as knights and black mages.
Alongside speed, the movement stat is one of the most important attributes to any unit, regardless of job. A higher movement allows the unit to reach enemies to strike before they can do, but also allows the unit to retreat from tight situations.
Male units also have access to Movement +3, only available from the bard job, while the Teleport movement ability, from the time mage job, allows the player to move (mostly) unhindered through even greater distances, although it has a high JP cost (especially in The Ivalice Chronicles version).
