The Myconid (マイコニド, Maikonido?) is a recurring enemy in the Final Fantasy series. It is generally an ambulatory fungus. Several of its appearances are as the Mushboom, one of the more iconic enemies of the Mana series.

[view · edit · purge]The myco prefix in biology refers to anything related to fungi, for example the study of fungi is mycology. Nid, nidae, id, or idae refers, in zoology, to the class or family to which a species belongs. In this case myconid can mean of the fungi class.
