The Precepts Guard is a boss in Final Fantasy X-2 fought after activating the three blue towers in the Bevelle Underground during Chapters 2, 3, and 5. It is based on the Spectral Keeper boss in Final Fantasy X.

Battle[]
The Precepts Guard can cast spells like Bio and Demi and can drain the party's HP and MP with Drain and Osmose, respectively. It can also afflict the party with Slow, and cause instant death.
On its turn, the Precepts Guard has a 1/3 chance of using Demi or 2/15 chance each of using Drain, Osmose, Bio, Death, or Slow, the latter being inflicted on the entire party.
In Oversoul, the Precepts Guard gains the ability to use physical attacks, as well as Magic Catalyst, which allows it to passively increase its Magic stat by 1 every 1.6 seconds. It also gains access to first-level elemental spells (Fire, Thunder, Blizzard, and Water), as well as Anti-Dressphere, which inflicts minor physical damage but applies Itchy to the party. An Oversouled Precepts Guard uses Magic Catalyst on its first turn, then proceeds to use either any of the four first-level elemental spells or a normal attack, the latter being used less frequently as the Precepts Guard's HP decreases. After being reduced to 1/20 of its max HP (393 HP), it will use Anti-Dressphere, but only once. The elemental spells target the entire party.
Strategy[]
To defeat this fiend, the party needs to attack it with their strongest attacks and magic. Like with the Georapella, the Precepts Guard is weak to Holy, so attacks like a Warrior's Excalibur inflict heavy damage.
In Oversoul, having accessories or captured creatures that have elemental immunity or absorption auto-abilities also proves useful. Furthermore, captured creatures are immune to Itchy, so Anti-Dressphere has little to no effect on them.
