Local Council Isfiya (in Arabic Usfiya, meaning "storm", due
to the weather in this mountainous village) is situated on Mount
Carmel, 12 km SE of Haifa . A Local
Council since 1951, with 9000 inh, most of them Druze (78%), the
rest Christians (17%), Muslims (5%) and a few Jews.
No flag was sighted in my visit. The flag was reported as white
with blue emblem but needs confirmation. The municipal emblem was
published in the official gazette (Rashumot),
'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut ha'Pirsumim), YP
1303 – 22 September 1966.
Dov Gutterman, 14 November 2001
Local Council Daliat El-Carmel and
Local Council Isfiya are united in 2003 into Municipality of
Daliyat El-Karmel-Isfiya. Those symbols are now obsolete.
