Coat of arms
image by Sérgio Horta, 22 Aug 1999Shield Azure, issuant from the dexter an angel’s arm proper, winged Or and holding a scale of the same and a sword armed Argent pointed upwards, as if on a bordure, the words "QUIS SICUT DEUS?". Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA FRANCA DO CAMPO".
Meaning:
It should be noted that the Latin motto shows modern "U"s and not the usual "V"s. The meaning of the inscription is "Who is like God?" , in Hebrew simply "Michael". St. Michael is the local patron saint and sword and scales are his usual attributes.

Plain (monocoloured) Portuguese subnational flags are not allowed to have variations without arms: plain flags always carry the coat of arms.
