This PR updates the toolbar in accordance with the suggestions listed in #106, separating submenu items into standalone buttons and adding text beneath them:

Although the icons themselves (and probably the labels too) still leave much to be desired, this change should at least make some of the functionality provided by the existing toolbar slightly more clear and accessible..
