Because usually no one spends time reading and understanding all the fine prints and signs it because "if everyone else signed it, it can't be too wrong/bad". Indeed this shouldn't happen to big corporations, but it might also be that they failed to recognize the problem or they didn't care because it didn't affect them directly.
