+1 on installing packages on Windows through the native package
manager (Add/Remove Programs).

I'm a Windows user, and I've also spent a fair bit of time improving
Python's bdist_msi support exactly so that we have better support for
Windows native package management. However, I don't have enough time
to keep up with the massive package management threads. If you want to
CC me occasionally to get my feedback on a particular comment though,
I'd be happy to speak up.
