That depends on your configuration but ...

that's *much* better, thanks!  The hg documentation does not make it 
clear that, in the absolute path case, PYTHONPATH does not need to be 
manipulated, which is what I was trying to avoid.

Perhaps you could add those instructions to the devguide?
