On my Mac OS X 10.7.3 System I have lots of python kits installed for developing extensions. I'll just noticed that Python.org 2.7.2 uses the sames site-packages folder with Apple's 2.7.1. Since extensions compiled against Apple's 2.7.1 segv when used by python.org's 2.7.2 this is at least unfortunate. Here is the what is in sys.path for both versions. Notice /Library/Python/2.7/site-packages is in both. $ /usr/bin/python -c 'import sys,pprint; pprint.pprint( sys.path )' ['', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-unicode-2.8.12.1/lib/python2.7/site-packages', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-unicode-2.8.12.1/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.8-mac-unicode', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python27.zip', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-darwin', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-mac', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-mac/lib-scriptpackages', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-tk', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-old', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload', '/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/Extras/lib/python/PyObjC', '/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-unicode-2.8.12.1/lib/python2.7'] $ /usr/local/bin/python2.7 -c 'import sys,pprint; pprint.pprint( sys.path )' ['', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-unicode-2.8.12.1/lib/python2.7/site-packages', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-unicode-2.8.12.1/lib/python2.7/site-packages/wx-2.8-mac-unicode', '/usr/local/lib/wxPython-unicode-2.8.12.1/lib/python2.7', '/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python27.zip', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-darwin', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-mac', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/plat-mac/lib-scriptpackages', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-tk', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-old', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload', '/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/site-packages'] Barry
