When people are defending their right to be included is probably not a
great time to make jokes about them not being human. Tacking a smiley face
on the end just gives the impression that you realize that your words will
come off as aggressive and are trying to preemptively make sure that if
anyone tries to hold you responsible for this then you can claim that it's
their fault for not having a sense of humor. Trying to further defend this
position is just going to dig you in deeper, so let's drop the discussion
here.
