Indeed, I already mentioned this at https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0579/#allowing-native-c-arguments The way I see it, these kind of improvements should be done on top of PEP 580. Maybe I didn't emphasize this enough, but one of the goals of PEP 580 is to create an *extensible* protocol where such features can easily be added later in a compatible way. Jeroen.
