As I mentioned in my follow-up, I decided just to write it using xmllib.  It
seemed more efficient to use a parser, rather than using pyxie + a parser.
I'm only doing some simple processing of character data.

That, and my ISP doesn't have the XML tools installed, so xmllib is about all
I can count on.
