There is a version of Python available. Go to http://softrak.stepwise.com and search for python. I believe this is a recompiled version of the UNIX source code. Keeping the core interpreter up to date with the other sources should be much easier in MacOS X since there shouldn't be a significant amount of changes necessary to make it run under the BSD layer of MacOS X (my guess would be that the main changes will be in the compile and make files).
