The slow response, at least, does not appear to be SourceForge's fault. I run a mailing list via SourceForge (the mtx mailing list, see http://mtx.sourceforge.net ), and mail has been very slow at getting anywhere. One of my list users extracted why: ----------------- Extracted Ticket Ticket Number : NORDUnet/20000920-0157 Title : Route flapping for valinux/sourceforge etc. Receiver : ndn-fail at nordu.net Ticket Status : Closed Opening time : N/A Ticket Type : Unscheduled Ticket Source : NORDUnet Ticket Scope : Routing Ticket Priority : Ticket Owner : he at nordu.net Ticket Issuer : he at nordu.net Problem Fixer : VAlinux' upsream provider (?) Est. time to Fix: Ticket Opened : 20000920 21:27 UTC Problem Starts : 20000920 06:00 UTC Closed : 20000925 10:13 UTC Ended : 20000925 10:13 UTC Problem Description: * 20000920 21:35 UTC, he at nordu.net NORDUnet is seeing the prefix 198.186.200.0/22 flapping through TeleGlobe, and the prefix is currently dampened away from NORDUnet's routing table. This prefix causes unreachability of www.sourceforge.net and inability to look up names in valinux.com's domain, causing several user inquries over the day. Instability (BGP route flap) information from us-gw2: Network From Flaps Duration Reuse Path *d 198.186.200.0/22 207.45.202.25 337 15:25:16 00:32:10 6453 701 6067 6939 7091 *d 207.45.202.21 341 15:25:38 00:24:40 6453 701 6067 6939 7091 i.e. more than 330 flaps over the last 15 hours. ----- Affected: * 20000920 21:35 UTC, he at nordu.net NORDUnet users wanting to contact hosts in the given address space. ----- Action: * 20000920 21:35 UTC, he at nordu.net Problem reported to TeleGlobe for tracing and reporting on to their upstreams so that the underlying reason can be found and fixed (we hope!). TeleGlobe ticket #149459. ******************** This basically means (from what I understand) that TeleGlobe (which is sourceforges ISP) has problems with unstable routing. I would suspect this is not a problem only from NORDUnet. ------<end forwarded message>---------------- -- Eric Lee Green eric at estinc.com Software Engineer "The BRU Guys" Enhanced Software Technologies, Inc. http://www.estinc.com/ (602) 470-1115 voice (602) 470-1116 fax
