1. postgresql needs it to build. I copied the version from an older
   Python and it seems to work. What should postgresql do instead?

2. Python-2.2b2 has installed Makefile.pre.in from the root of the
   source tree instead, which is different from one in Misc (e.g. no
   'boot' target). Was it supposed to work?
