The python2-* packages are currently stuck in unstable, since they depend on tcl/tk8.3. tcl/tk8.3 in turn currently has a severe bug, which prevents it from being moved to testing. That's the crux with package pools ;-) You could either fetch the python2 source ('apt-get source python2' with unstable in sources.list) and recompile it, changing Modules/Setup.in accordingly to use tk8.0 or tk8.2, or you'll have to wait for the resolution of these problems...
