Python and Industry

I use it for connecting engineering applications via XML.  These apps
cover preliminary design (simulation and analysis), detail design (CAD
solid models), manufacture (NC tool programming), partner data
interchange, etc.  In the process I've converted some old perl hands
to python, and turned some engineers onto it.  Currently moving from
"ok to use in researchware and isolated settings" to "required on all
engineering workstations".
