John Grayson's book is great "Python and Tkinter programming"
Mark Hammond & Andy Robinson "Python Programming on Win32" 

If you go with a different toolkit (Qt, wxPython) then you just have
to rought it out with the tutorials given. Mr. Rempt (sp?) is in the
process of writing a book on PyQt which will fill that great need.
