If you're getting a GPF (referencing the KERNEL32 DLL) have you
updated your WinSock support to WinSock2?  (if you're not sure you
probably still have winsock1).  The wxPython "Prerequisites" page has
a pointer for the setup package at:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/bin/W95ws2setup.exe
