There are a myriad of excellent books available...

I own "Python Essential Reference" which I find more than adequate for 
most of my needs, and Python Programming on Win32...  (don't know what 
platform you are looking at, but search on Python at Amazon or Barnes 
and Noble... you'll find plenty of good stuff!)
