Why use Python instead of Perl?

I can sympathize with the original poster, as that's much the
way I felt back when I needed to decide whether to bother with
Python -- that I had already spent far too much effort mastering
a zillion languages and it was high time I stopped adding more
and more and more for no real purpose.

I'm particularly happy I got over it, of course, since Python
turned out to be so wonderful.  But I can surely sympathyze with
an experienced programmer who's getting a bit tired of the
"yet another language" binge stage;-).
