Yes, they are. :^( Mainly, if you follow them by email, you can't
reply by email, only via web, and since the web presentation of
threads does not encourage quoting, those emails are often
context-free.

Don't know about Yahoo, but the HTML source of the Sourceforge fora
contain all the indentation. The browser masks it when rendering, but
it's there.
