Even better:
     from functools import partial

     def handle(self):
         for data in iter(partial(self.request.recv, 1024), ''):
             self.request.send(data)
             if data.strip() == 'bye':
                 break
         else:
             raise ValueError('Gone w/o a "bye"')  # or IOError
