The astronaut pin was an award given to astronauts by NASA. This pin was either silver, for completing training to be an astronaut, or gold, for completing a space mission.

In the 20th century, a gold astronaut pin was incorporated into the design of the assignment patches for Apollo 14 and STS-41G. (ENT: "First Flight")
