The Barolians were a species from the Barolia system, Beta Quadrant. They were known for trading a great deal with the Romulan Star Empire. This trade occurred along the Barolian trade route.
Senator Pardek attended a Barolian trade conference in 2364. In 2368 a Barolian freighter transported a stolen Vulcan deflector to Galorndon Core. (TNG: "Unification I", "Unification II").

In the RPG sourcebook A Fragile Peace, it was said that the Barolians looked identical to humans, except for their lack of eyebrows. Almost all Barolian births are identical twins and Barolians marry in groups of four, with two brothers marrying two sisters. Their homeworld was called Barol.
The novel Death in Winter described Barolians as having loose gray skin, startling blue eyes set deep into their skulls, and noses that spread almost from ear to corkscrewed ear.
