The record section was a section of the US 498th Airbase Group.

John Christopher offered to draw a sketch of the airbase's layout, to help James T. Kirk locate the record section and photo lab so he could steal back evidence of the USS Enterprise's trip back in time. (TOS: "Tomorrow is Yesterday")
