1970: A probe sent by Admiral James T. Kirk via a slingshot maneuver is detected by the Beta 5 computer. Roberta Lincoln listens to a recorded message from Kirk about survivors of an Iramahl ship that crashed on Earth in the 19th century who may still be alive. (TOS novel: Elusive Salvation)
1998: The International Space Station's first module is launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
