The salad was often served alongside hard-cooked bird's eggs and a potato-like vegetable.

In the year 2268, the Romulan Commander provided Nurse Christine Chapel with a copy of the recipe during her stay aboard the starship USS Enterprise. Chapel adapted it for the ship's food processors, formulated using green beans, beans, chick-peas, knockwurst, green onions, salt, oil, wine vinegar, garlic, and parsley.
