Epsilon Theta was a star with an associated system, located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, which collapsed into a black hole in the late 23rd century.
History and specifics[]
Prior to its collapse, Epsilon Theta was a stable, G-type main sequence yellow star. (Adventures RPG module: Mission Briefs: Cold War mission: "The Edge of Eternity")
Epsilon Theta's orbit was the location of 7 planets. (ST video game: Legacy, ST reference: Star Trek Legacy Prima Official Game Guide)
- The RPG stated that it had no planets.
In May 2159, during the Earth-Romulan War, all seven planets in the Epsilon Theta system were infected by a metagenic virus planted by the Romulans. However, as part of the Mission to Epsilon Theta, they were provided with an antidote by a trio of Earth Starfleet Daedalus-class medical ships. An attempt by the Romulan Imperial Fleet to stop the medical ships was thwarted by a task force of Starfleet vessels led by the NX-class cruiser Enterprise NX-01, which destroyed the Silvak Outpost that the Romulans had established in orbit of Epsilon Theta VI. The Golden Gate at Epsilon Theta.
At one point in its service history, the Decatur-class USS Golden Gate spent a day in close orbit of a moon in Epsilon Theta's system. One of the ship's physicists, Lieutenant Emery, painted a picture of the Golden Gate from a vantage point on the tiny moon. (SOTL calendar: Ships of the Line 2014 June image: "Smile")
In the late 23rd century, a K'tinga-class Klingon battlecruiser field-tested a stellar converter weapon on the star. This unintentionally collapsed it and trapped the warship near the quantum singularity's event horizon. A nearby Federation starship detected the stellar event and came to investigate.
