Grid 967 was a 24th century Borg designation for a region of space, a sector in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant controlled by the Romulan Star Empire in the 2370s decade. Grid 967 contained many planets rich in resources that the Romulans had colonized, as well as various Romulan space stations. (ST video game: Armada II)
History and specifics[]
By the year 2377, the Star Empire had settled four planets in this grid. The Romulans maintained Romulan trading stations that attracted Ferengi cargo ships, generating latinum profits from the trade of goods. Settled worlds included Aliok, Machae, Parem and Revvik.
On stardate 54812.7, the Borg Queen led a Borg Collective fleet of capital and support ships into Grid 967. She ordered the Borg under her command to appropriate resources and remove indigenous species from this grid. Initially, the fleet's approach was hidden from Romulan detection by dangerous nebulae and their location near planet Shevat and behind an asteroid belt. However, the Borg presence was discovered quickly by a passing Romulan ship and Romulan communications announced to prepare for battle with the Borg. Led by the Borg Queen's Diamond, the Borg successfully assimilated the Romulan defenders and their planets, gaining desperately-needed resources to allow the Borg to rebuild. Because of this, they were able to build up sufficiently to fight the Species 8472 menace. (ST video game: Armada II mission: "There Goes the Neighborhood")
