In 2371, the crew of the USS Defiant used a holofilter to make Benjamin Sisko appear to be a Kobheerian captain to Gul Benil. (DS9 episode: "Second Skin")
Gul Dukat used a holofilter on the Klingon bird-of-prey Naprem to project to Klingon ships he communicated with that he was also a Klingon. En route to Ty'Gokor in 2373, the holofilter failed, forcing Dukat to destroy a Klingon ship that had intercepted them. (DS9 episode: "Apocalypse Rising")
In 2383, the crew of the USS Aventine used a holofilter to make Peter Alden appear to be a Tzenkethi called Anzegar. (ST novel: Brinkmanship)
