Howard Weinstein

Howard Weinstein sold the story for the TAS episode: "The Pirates of Orion" at age nineteen. He is the author of over sixty Trek comics, novels and stories.

Regarding his run on DC Comics' TOS Volume 2, Weinstein wrote, "Since we had no idea if Kirk and crew might reappear in later movies, we decided to set most of our stories between ST V and VI. I really liked the way the characters had developed over six movies, and I found this older-and-wiser group to be more interesting subjects... Six years elapsed between those two films. There'd be no stepping on movie toes, plenty of room for great stories, and lots of continuity gaps to fill... Writing those comics for four continuous years was a dream job for this lifelong Star Trek fan." (Star Trek Magazine Issue 153/US 26: "Minding the Gaps, Part 2")

While writing "Safe Harbors" for the Tales of the Dominion War anthology, Weinstein watched several Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episodes that were set at the same time. He commented, "watching a few episodes made me want to watch more, because it reminded me what a good series DS9 was. But because Keith gave us a deadline, I did not have time to watch all seven seasons." [1]
