Identity transference

Identity transference was the swapping of minds between two bodies.

(TOS comic: "The Marshall Plan") Later, the Varkans planned to transfer their identities into machines on Earth and destroy the Human civilization. (TOS comic: "Thorpex") Later, Gokron and Chekra of Plixes disguised themselves as Captain James T. Kirk and Spock by using identity transference equipment to copy their bodies and memories. In 2269, identity transference technology was discovered on Camus II. It was used to transpose the life energy of Captain Kirk and Janice Lester. (TOS episode & Star Trek 5 novelization: Turnabout Intruder)

In 2270, a transporter malfunction caused by pulsar damage transposed the personalities of Kirk, Spock, Hikaru Sulu and Nyota Uhura: Kirk was in Sulu's body, Spock was in Uhura's body, Sulu was in Spock's body, and Uhura was in Kirk's body. In 2365, Katherine Pulaski's identity was transferred into an android body. (TNG short story: "Pulaski 2.0")

In 2384, Dal R'El and Kathryn Janeway swapped bodies. (PRD episode: "Mindwalk")
