The Orion Institute of Cosmology, located on the planet Orion I in the Orion star system, was a university of cosmology.

Known as a prestigious institution, this school requires one year of field experience. Crewman Mortimer Harren enlisted in Starfleet to gain a year of field experience in hopes of attending the Institute, and was assigned to the starship Voyager in 2371. (VOY episode: "Good Shepherd")
