Joshua Kemper was a 24th century Human man. He served in Starfleet as the commanding officer of the Federation starship USS Dauntless.
Biography[]
He was a cadet at Starfleet Academy from the year 2351 to 2354, a friend to Ray Williams. When Mackenzie Calhoun, among other new cadets, arrived to the academy, Kemper singled him out to be picked on. He soon learned that Calhoun wasn't just any cadet. (NF novel: Stone and Anvil)
By 2380, Kemper had risen to the rank of commodore and been given command of the USS Dauntless. When the USS Excalibur apparently went rogue and attacked New Thallon, his ship was assigned to hunt them down, under supervision of Admiral Edward Jellico. His single-minded approach to following Starfleet's orders to destroy the Excalibur on sight was only averted when Admiral Jellico recognized that they were blinking SOS with their running lights, thus allowing him to invoke the Starfleet Charter and override Kemper's orders.
