Kepler-018

For other uses, see Kepler.

Kepler-018 was a star with an associated star system located in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant, at coordinates -4547, -3. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

History and specifics[]

Astronomical data[]

Kepler-018 was in the region of space visible from Earth as the constellation of Cygnus, over 1,400 light-years distant. This was a G class star in the yellow dwarf size range.

This system contained deposits of raw ore, and was the site of a number of planets that included the world Vabii (which was among Kepler-18b, Kepler-18c and Kepler-18d in the system's orbit). Kepler-018 was in the vicinity of Aciben, Bharani, Bubeau, Davidul, Deneva (by way of Kaikara), Draken, Eisenhorn, Eizeb, Fastolf, Kaikara, Sorenle, Vemet, V'varia, Wezen and Zhang. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

Kelvin timeline[]

The Kepler-018 vicinity was in neutral space unclaimed by major governments by the 23rd century in the Kelvin timeline. (ST video game: Fleet Command)

The system has an ID code of 1854874708 in the game software and the player is likely to encounter a Pakled thief starship here.

Background[]

Real star[]

  • The name of this star is a reference to astronomer Johannes Kepler, as a naming convention of stars in the 20th and 21st centuries involved giving this designation to stars discovered by the Kepler space telescope. Real-world astronomy has noted 3 planets here: Kepler-18b, Kepler-18c and Kepler-18d.

Star Trek universe location[]

  • While the Fleet Command game does not establish quadrant locations for the game map, the real Kepler-18 is located in the constellation of Cygnus. ST reference: Star Charts, the source that defined the quadrant system's real-world correlation, places the entirety of Cygnus in the Alpha Quadrant.
