New Earth was the name given to a class M planet located in a yellow dwarf's star system in the space of the galaxy's Delta Quadrant.

History[]

This planet was so named when USS Voyager officers Captain Kathryn Janeway and Commander Chakotay briefly lived here in the year 2372 when they contracted a rare viral infection. (VOY episode: "Resolutions")

During this time, Chakotay had experienced romantic feelings towards his commanding officer, although he kept them to himself because of her engagement to Mark Johnson. (VOY - Distant Shores short story: "Isabo's Shirt")
