The quantum carrier-wave beam was a ship-mounted weapon present on Gorn starships that was a development of tractor beam technology.

These weapons were incredibly vicious on enemy ships as they stripped the layer of shielding present on enemy starships. The Gorn were suspected by the Klingons to have traded the design of this weaponry to the Federation. It was primarily used for boarding party operations. (ST video game: Klingon Academy)
