The Rex class was a 25th century Khitomer Alliance starship type, a tier 6-rated Alliance pilot escort in Allied Fleet Service operations in the 2410s decade. The prototype AFS Rex was named for Dukan'Rex. (STO website: Both Worlds: Hail to the King, Baby)

In the year 2411, Odo's Jem'Hadar sacrificed himself aboard a Hur'q dreadnought to provide his Ketracel-white. It was needed to heal the Hur'q from their frenzy and end the invasion of Empersa, the Dominion capital. The Dominion was subsequently accepted into the Khitomer Alliance. The Rex-class was designed to be a bridge between quadrants, too. Its design was derived from the 24th century Jem'Hadar fighter and Federation Defiant-class escort. It carries the AFS registration prefix and a CSN registry number. (STO website: Both Worlds: Hail to the King, Baby)
The prototype, AFS Rex (CSN-04), was the fourth dedicated Khitomer Alliance design after the Khitomer-class, Temer-class raider and Jarok-class carrier. (STO - Incursion missions: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", "Explore the Flotilla", "First City")
