Background[]

• This story is set after "What You Leave Behind". Kira sees Torrna Antosso, the Bajoran general she encountered (or had a vision about) in the DS9 short story: "Horn and Ivory".
• The author commented: “I’ve been writing Deep Space Nine stories for about three years, since I fell madly in love with the series, and once I found out there was a possibility of having one of my stories published, I worked on 'Shadowed Allies' for a year. It's the first story I’ve submitted to a Star Trek writing contest, and my only submission to SNW 9. Many of my stories feature Kira Nerys as the main character, as I'm a huge fan of both her individual storyline and the relationship between her and Odo. After watching the entire television series and reading all of the DS9 relaunch books, I began to write about certain storylines that I’ve wanted to know more about. Odo leaving for the Great Link and their process of saying good-bye; Odo's return and temporary reunion with Kira in Unity by S.D. Perry; Kira's loyalty to those she cares about. From there, the story developed into 'Shadowed Allies‘ and I kept reworking it until everything felt right. When I find out I was one of the contest winners, I was ecstatic. I am an aspiring, writer and actress, and have respected. the creators , writers and actors of the Star Trek universe for many years.
