Spring was a season, usually characterized by vegetation emerging from the ground and trees blossoming. This season was preceded by winter and led into summer.
In the 2280s decade, Starfleet Academy held a reunion in the city of San Francisco on Earth every spring, which was open to all active and inactive Starfleet personnel. The crew of the USS Enterprise-A missed several such reunions due to being on assignment, but Captain James T. Kirk and his crew were able to attend the reunion in Spring 2289.
